Kids Cancer Charity

On 20th July 2008, not too early in the morning, something was happening. This was the date that 53 adult and child family members set off on their 3 Day/2 Night trip to Logoland, Windsor for a short break of discovery and creativity. Transport was provided as usual by Dimond Coaches of Swansea and after visiting the pick-up points in Swansea and Cardiff, the journey went off without a hitch.

On arrival at the Mariott Hotel and after a very short travel recovery period there were fun and games in the grounds and for those very brave few, in the pool. This was followed by a yummy evening meal and then off to bed in their luxury en-suite rooms to reserve energy for the following day’s activities.

Families set off the following morning equipped with priority passes, which meant no queuing, and money for the all important lunch. Both adult and children alike find the place quite entertaining. There are over 50 rides as well as live shows, workshops and other attractions aimed squarely at young children, and especially those who are already fond of the iconic building-block toys.

Return to the hotel found some with still a little energy to burn so it was a race around the grounds or a splash about in the pool before dinner and finally to bed exhausted but happy with their store of memories and mementoes that last a lifetime.

The following morning brought several rested, bleary eyed people to the breakfast table ready to refuel and face the journey home with comfort stops and games along the way. The building blocks of Lego had done it again, together with the staff of the Christian Lewis Trust, friends and families, they had helped to re-energize families and strengthen their belief in play and creativity.
